Good morning Friends! Do you ever struggle with your envelopes being too small for your cards when you get all those beautiful embellishments on them? Well, today I have a tutorial for you on a box you can make to hold your card. This is great if you are giving the card as your gift (they are pretty special gifts to give!) I find myself giving a card with just a little cash or gift card more than ever now.
* Warning - this post is VERY picture heavy!
The first thing I do is determine the size I need my box to be. Most of my cards are 5.75 x 5.75 so I make a 6in. box. I want my sides to be 1 in tall so I cut a piece of heavy card stock at 8x8 and score at 1 inch on all 4 sides:
Here is a close up of the score lines:
Next, I cut a slit from the end to the score line on each side. I like to angle the corners to make it look a little neater.
Here is what it should look like:
Next I just add my adhesive and then adhere to the inside of the uncut side.
To make the top I cut my card stock at 7 1/8 inches and scored around at 1/2 inch on each side. I decorated the top to match the card and there you have it. A simple box that looks like you spent loads of time!
The completed box.

For my card and box I used this adorable stamp called
Off To The Ball by Crafty SentimentsDesigns. I colored her with my Spectrum Noir pens and cut her our using a Spellbinders die. I also used a couple of other dies to complete this card along with some ribbon and flowers.
Perfect for a little girls birthday!
Thanks for sticking with me all the way to the end! I hope this has inspired you to create you own box and card project!
